Sightly delayed, but here we go anyway…
If I’d had a stab at writing this review before the game on Sunday, it’d probably have said “Spurs didn’t really seem up for it, very few chances created and some dodgy moments at the back”.
Having seen the game, it now says “Spurs didn’t really seem up for it, very few chances created and some dodgy moments at the back”.
I had a funny feeling that we might see a repeat of the performance at Watford, and it seems my mystical powers were on better form than our players. It was a windy day on a bobbley pitch, but we were pants. The change in formation didn’t work, and we only really looked dangerous once Lennon came on towards the end. A bad day at the office.
But….you’d fancy us strongly to win the replay, and with Bolton at home waiting in the quarters, we have a really good chance of reaching the semis. In fact, we have a bloody good chance of winning the whole darn thing, and I don’t know if any previous winners will have won it playing so badly in the last 2 rounds, but who cares!
Here’s my ratings:
Didn’t fill anyone with confidence. Struggled with crosses and holding onto shots.
Our main attacking threat, particularly first half. He couldn’t be more-one footed though.
Often our spare man, and he tried to drive forward without really getting anywhere.
Poor. Too many long balls, but maybe that’s because he new his short passing was atrocious!
Solid enough. Doesn’t have much pace, but positioning and awareness was good. He can do a job for 6 months.
Disappointingly ineffective in a wingback roll. Rose was better by a distance.
Very un-parker-like. Sloppy in possession and struggled to make the most of his forward runs.
Some good, some bad. He’s got the makings of a good’n this lad.
Bar one decent shot, he floated about in his free roll doing not a lot. Get out on the wing and run at someone Gareth!
Not great. Couldn’t hold it up and I’m not sure he and Defoe passed to each other once.
Awful. Created zero, contributed zero and gave the ball away a lot. Do you really want to go to the Euros?!
Krancjar: Didn’t really get involved
Lennon: Looked very lively – hopefully he’ll start against the Gooners
